Last week Dutch retaiIer Ahold reported a sales increase of 5.5 percent at constant exchange rates to more than €30 billion. Net income grew by 19 percent to over €1 billion.

It really seems now that the company is finally back on track.

When at the beginning of 2011 Ahold´s then newly appointed CEO Dick Boer started with his job, he presented six strategic pillars to reshape the company. These pillars are: increasing customer loyalty, broadening its offering, expanding its geographic reach, simplicity, responsible retailing, and people performance.

At the heart of Ahold´s 6 Pillars strategy lies the conviction that new technologies and the increasing importance of social media have put the consumers and customers firmly in the driver’s seat.

We are pleased to hear that this was understood and acted upon by Ahold´s senior management team.

Best regards,

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
